Train with Will Torres, and this is what you get: one-on-one attention from a fitness expert who’s been coaching privately in Manhattan’s West Village for over eight years, not to mention a sexy, confident example of what his particular method of training can do for your own body. Will’s client list includes executives, stay-at-home moms and some of the fashion industry’s biggest names: designers Ralph Rucci, Ricardo Tisci and the Burkman Brothers; Bravo ’s Brad Goreski and Andy Cohen; and model Ashley Smith.

Will’s first location was on Christopher Street; but increased demand for his services inspired him to design Willspace, at the corner of West 10th and Hudson Streets, where he’s been since April. This private gym offers state-of-the-art fitness machines, the latest in training equipment and a small, mirror-lined studio for group classes that are exclusive to Willspace. One such class, air in sculpt, blends Pilates, yoga and isometric training, and promises a body with “long, lean lines.” But Will’s real specialty is one-on-one training: he believes “a better body image means a better you,” and he reminds his clients that confidence in one’s body can translate into every aspect of life. His goal? For you to feel empowered by the way you look.

Will’s clients typically have 2, 3 or 4 super-charged sessions per week, and are pushed to incorporate multiple movements that really engage the core (utilizing two muscle groups at once for maximum efficiency). Will meets with each new client to discuss goals, then puts him or her through a mini-workout that demonstrates how that person moves, and where imbalances may lie. Finally, he builds a program around a client’s fitness goals, and provides the tools and support needed to achieve them. Will also integrates himself into a client’s day-to-day life through texting, emailing and social media to keep tabs on individual goals. He asks questions: How far did you run today? What did you have for breakfast? and also provides healthy tips. Staying connected and setting weekly goals helps a client stay motivated.

Just as there are trends in fashion, there are trends in the types of bodies, and body parts, that people want for themselves. “Glutes and legs are the new abs,” says Will. “If our legs and lower bodies are strong, everything else will fall into place.” And to build that strong, athletic body, all it takes is Will.
