Chic Shopping in Paris:
Louise Feuillère

Visiting Louise Feuillère feels like going back in time. Her storefront in the 17th arrondissement is modest. But once you step inside, it’s a fairyland of lingerie…
Her atelier is actually a former kitchen. It’s in the back of the boutique, where Louise works with one assistant – but in the front, you’ll find incredible lingerie for thousands of dollars.

You can buy off-the-rack or you can have Louise custom-make a piece. What’s remarkable about her lingerie – particularly her corsets – is that they’re so beautiful they can be worn as outerwear. I’m not sure if that’s her intention, but I would. I tried on one of the corsets, below. This look is of-the-moment and kind of reminded me of Dior Haute Couture.

At 36, Louise could be considered a rising talent, but her craftsmanship is very old world. She’s petite and unassuming and so sweet. She showed me her chef d’oeuvre, for which she won a gold medal last year as a Meilleur Ouvrier de France. The award is proudly displayed at the front of her store.

Louise’s work is pricey – you must schedule a fitting and you can’t just call and order unless you have been before. It’s a pleasure, though, to find an old-fashioned boutique such as this. While much of the world of fashion has lost its personal touch, Louise Feuillère feels truly special.
