Haute Couture Spring 2010:
Givenchy, Elie Saab and Valentino Video Diary

This video is the perfect way to end the work week. Click above for some fantastic footage of the Givenchy, Elie Saab and Valentino shows. Even better, though, check out what Vanessa Friedman of the Financial Times has to say about what couture means to her. She’s my favorite fashion writer – very chic and brings such intelligence to the subject. Before the Elie Saab show, she shared her thoughts on the collections so far, the direction couture seems to be moving in, and why she thinks the Dior collection was problematic. Really interesting commentary.

Before that, you’ll see bold Givenchy colors, fabrics, and designs by today’s contemporary couturier Riccardo Tisci. Then it’s Elie Saab’s romantic gowns and a risky collection by the new designers at Valentino. I didn’t love the Valentino look – and judging by the number of models who tripped, they probably didn’t love the shoes there either.
