Madeleine Vionnet:
Puriste de la Mode

Much has been written of this exhibition already—and all of the accolades are deserved. Covering two floors at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and featuring 130 outfits from the designer, the Madeleine Vionnet exhibition is so thorough and so marvelous that I had to go twice!
Vionnet was a visionary. The pieces she created are pure, indeed, and utterly timeless—I would wear any one of them! Even from behind their glass displays, the extraordinary craftsmanship of the dresses is evident. The draping, the fringe, the beading, the perfect silhouettes she tailored—her work is a revelation. And it is the quintessence of chic.

Bravo to curator Pamela Golbin! This is one of the best fashion exhibitions I’ve seen in some time.
