New York Fashion Week–Fall 2012 Collections
I was glad to see Bibhu Mohapatra showing his collection on the runway this season–in the past, he’s usually put together much smaller shows or presentations. I’m generally a big fan of low-key shows, but I must admit it was a nice change to see Bibhu’s models sashaying down the runway.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Bibhu Mohapatra in his New York atelier late last year (while he was working on his resort collection), and it was both a fun and enlightening experience. I had a good time getting to know him; learning about his love of technique (and his love of luxury); and, of course, trying on some of his fabulous clothes. It’s always satisfying to reconfirm that there are still a few designers in the world who believe in real luxury!
This season, Bibhu really outdid himself. There were standout furs; classic slacks with interesting tops (a very chic look); and a wonderful selection of great-looking gowns to make any woman feel glamorous. I loved the défilé, and I realized it’s time to pay another visit to Bibhu in his showroom!
