Giambattista Valli is relatively new to me when compared to the many designers I’ve been seeing for years. I began attending his shows last year, and I expect to be following his work for many more to come.  His Fall collection was superb. 

Held at the Jardin des Tuileries, where the Dior show also took place, Valli’s presentation was a departure from the heavy black I’ve been seeing. The beautiful peacock feathers, the clean cuts and draping, the teal and maroon colors…there was almost an understated regality to it all. The detailing in the work borders on couture, really.

Valli, who is good fun and has been a regular at parties this week, received support from high profile industry types and socials alike. Anna Wintour, Silvia Venturini Fendi and her daughter, Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Coco and Bianca Brandolini, Rachel Zoe, Nati Abascal, Marta Marzotto, Rebecca Carcelle and Lauren Santo Domingo were all front row. I haven’t seen him since the opening of nightclub Le Montana last week, so I was eager to congratulate him. 

I also spent some time backstage with Bianca Brandolini.  Her mother Georgina Brandolini is a good friend and one of the women I wrote about in my book Chic in Paris. I included the Brandolini women in my Inherited Beauty Chic List post is very popular, and it’s not hard to see why!
