Prêt-à-Porter Fall 2010:
Rainbow Wave

Wearing a Marios Schwab coat
Rainbow Wave is a multi-line showroom with an impressive roster of emerging designers. They’re based in London, but they also have a showroom here in Paris at the Galerie Magda Danysz. I’ve been in contact with them a lot lately because they represent Marios Schwab, a designer who’s captured my interest over the past several months…
Marios was on my radar, but it was my visit to Dover Street Market back in November that sealed the deal – I was so impressed with his work – really outstanding. When he was named the new designer for Halston, I made sure to attend the Fall 2010 presentation during New York Fashion Week last month. And when Rainbow Wave invited me to see his own Fall 2010 line in Paris, of course I said yes.

These are a few pieces from his recent collection – I even tried a couple on. The coat up top is Marios Schwab – so chic – and I loved this black dress with Swarovski crystal details, below. Apparently two buyers saw the dress on me and decided to buy it. The group at Rainbow Wave said I should come back to model for them more often – it was very flattering that I could help them make the sale.

The showroom was buzzing. Beyond Marios Schwab, Rainbow Wave also represents Peter Pilotto, shoe designer Camila Skovgaard, Hockley furs, J Brand (my favorite jeans), among others.

I’d heard a lot about Peter Pilotto, so I was glad to see his work there. Looking at the clothes on the rack does them no justice – they are really meant to be worn – they looked great on the models walking around the showroom. He’s definitely another designer I have my eye on.

I also liked Makri, a jewelry line by Greek designer Ileana Makri. She works with Marios on the jewels in his collections. The leather bracelets with gemstones were my favorite – unfortunately, you don’t see them in the photo below.

Later on, I met the group from Rainbow Wave for dinner at a little Thai place called Krung Thep in the 20th arrondisement – something different for me. We had a great night – and I look forward to watching their designers’ next steps.
