Prêt-à-Porter Fall 2010:
Showroom Visits and Emerging Designers Video Diary
I love the glamour and energy of a major runway show, but it’s also nice to get a look at new collections right in the showroom. You can take your time, examine the workmanship, discuss the details with the designer directly. I visited several showrooms during my recent trip to Paris – with my eye out for new designers. Aside from the marvelous work I saw at Trash-Couture, there was Rainbow Wave, VBH and emerging designers Anthony Vacarello, Jasmine Di Milo and Harry Halim.
Click above for footage of each stop along the way. I was very impressed with the Marios Schwab and Peter Pilotto pieces at Rainbow Wave Showroom, and I think Anthony Vaccarello is a promising young designer – his edgy lingerie-inspired collection is perfect for the likes of Lou Doillon.
Jasmine Di Milo and Harry Halim showcased their budding talent at two presentations I attended, and, finally, the video highlights a visit to VBH’s Paris showroom. I couldn’t resist stopping by. Founder and designer Bruce Hoeksema reveals some new bags from the label’s latest collection – and just like his New York store and everything he creates – they are sublime.
