Part of the adventure of Paris Fashion Week is discovering new talents, meanng both young up-and-comers and people who are new to me. First stop: a visit with Simon Azoulay, for rock & roll chain mail (worn by Tina Turner) and stunning gowns. Next, it’s off to the Hôtel Crillon for the debut of Mal-Aimée, launched by a pair of young designers who trained under Olivier Theyskens at Nina Ricci. Finally, we’ll meet Maxime Simoens and learn how The Virgin Suicides inspired a collection ranging from clothes for very young women to beautiful pieces of extraordinary workmanship I would wear myself. Maxime also plans to show during next season’s Haute Couture, so I’m looking forward to that!
