After tying the knot in Paris on Valentine’s Day earlier this year, Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault exchanged vows again in Venice this weekend.  While their civil ceremony at Paris’s City Hall was unexpected and rather low-key, their celebration in Venice was a chic affair.

The weekend began with a masquerade party on Friday evening at the Punta Della Dogana, a historic custom house that is now a contemporary art space. On Saturday, guests in black tie dress were transported to La Fenice opera house, where the couple said “I do” in front of 150 friends and family members.  The bride wore a Balenciaga wedding gown by Nicolas Ghesquière and carried a bouquet of orchids and stephanotis with crystals.

Guests included Penelope Cruz, Edward Norton, Woody Harrelson, Olivier Martinez, Luis Miguel, Ashley Judd, Charlize Theron, Stuart Townsend, Bono, Gael García Bernal, Enrique Murciano, David Blaine, Ziyi Zhang, Philippe Starck, Vivi Nevo, Stella McCartney, Riccardo Scamarcio, Valeria Golino, Lily Cole, Diego Luna, Anna Wintour and former French President Jacques Chirac.

The couple met in Venice in 2006 at a gala party held at the Palazzo Grassi.  How romantic that they went back there for their wedding celebration!  And what a fabulous couple: Salma embodies Chic Over 40 and François-Henri is very polished.  Of course, as the CEO of luxury conglommerate PPR, he has a pretty impressive wardrobe to choose from!  The festivities sound magical, and I wish them much happiness.
