The New York Post and A Memorable Trip to Milan…

Last week I enjoyed a quick trip to Milan with my husband. It was perfect spring weather – and we had a lovely time strolling the city. As always, the shopping, food, nightlife and people-watching were divine. But the major – and completely unexpected – highlight while I was there was a writeup in the New York Post. On Saturday, they named me one of the 8 New Yorkers who are giving the inside scoop on the city 140 characters or less. I love connecting with readers on twitter @Susan_Tabak, so this really meant so much to me…
Aside from that amazing surprise, the long weekend in Milan included stops at my usual haunts: Alexander McQueen, René Caovilla, Missoni and the multi-label boutique 10 Corso Como. I love checking out the local fashion – but it’s even more fun to buy. I tried on several different dresses. I snapped photos with my blackberry – the quality isn’t too great – but you can see them below:

I ultimately decided on these two for now. Chic and versatile…

How gorgeous are these new Christian Louboutin sandals? He actually wrote the introduction to my book CHIC IN PARIS: Style Secrets and Best Addresses.

I like to see what’s out there for men, too – and since I was with my husband – we stopped into a few men’s shops. Doriani is an incredible Italian men’s label – they only have 3 stores in the world – Milan, Forte dei Marmi and Portofino. They carry sublime cashmeres and great-looking sportjackets.

Brioni is a nice choice for the slightly more conservative man. The fabrics and cuts are excellent. They make women’s clothes, too, but I like them better for men. My husband purchased the jacket below.

It’s always a visual pleasure to watch people in Milan – at every age, they look so chic. We had a couple meals al fresco – ideal for people-watching. At night, we dined at a few of my favorite seafood restaurants: Al Grisino, La Risacca Blu, and a’Riccione. On Friday night, we went to Just Cavalli club for a taste of the nightlife. And on Saturday night, we enjoyed a farewell nightcap at the newly designed hotel bar inside the Principe Di Savoia – there’s a DJ and it’s quite the happening place on weekends. I love staying at this hotel – each room is different and so elegant. The pool is fabulous and the spa is heaven – Tania’s massages are exceptional.

All in all, it was a great getaway – and the New York Post writeup was the cherry on top.

As always, you are tres tres chic! xx
I love your two dress choices. Alaia is one of my favorite designers and his dresses are fabulous. I hope you got the Louboutin shoes and you should consider the solid blue purple Mcqueen dress you looked great in that.
