Chic of the Week

Colette, Paris

April 30, 2012

Colette, Paris -

It’s hard to believe that Colette, on the rue Saint-Honoré, just celebrated its 15th anniversary in business, because that also means fifteen years I’ve been shopping there! No matter how busy I am during any of the city’s Fashion Weeks, I always make a point of visiting this store–sometimes to shop, sometimes just to see how the floor is laid out, or how the team has styled the latest collections. Mix-and-match has always been my motto: and no one does it better than the buyers at Colette. In fact, this boutique is one of the few places where I find myself looking at labels on the mannequins–I often have no idea which designer they’re wearing. And I can honestly say that, over the years, most of my coolest clothes have come from Colette: a one-of-a-kind threeASFOUR jacket, a Comme des Garçons skirt and cape, a Vika Gamiskaya jumpsuit or the E2 dress I wore for my Chic in Paris book launches (at the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris, and Louis Vuitton in New York). Of course, I was doubly pleased when Colette chose to carry my book, too–it looked great nestled among their other fashion titles. Whether you’re browsing for books, CDs, unusual trinkets or the latest sneaker, you’ll surely find something on the main floor. Venture upstairs, and you’ll discover the most unusual pieces from established designers and those who are new to the scene. Even after fifteen years, Colette remains a go-to destination for all kinds of chic–both high and low!
